BASIL RATHBONE?

Basil Rathbone

BASIL RATHBONE (1892-1967), born Philip St. John Basil Rathbone in Johannesburg, South Africa

Basil is an excellent actor. You will most likely find him playing a cold-blooded villain but he brings a lot to all the roles he plays.

Tale of Two Cities (1935)

Haven't you seen A Tale of Two Cities (1935)? Basil plays the cold-blooded blue-blooded Marquis de Evremond whose heart of stone leads him to his death.

Watch this and then see these other four films.

David Copperfield (1935) Basil plays David Copperfield's mean step-father.
The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) Once more Basil is an evil character, this time he plays Sir Guy. Not to mention he displays his skills with a sword!
The Court Jester (1956) Parodying his earlier evil roles, Basil is another sinister character in this comedy with Danny Kaye.
The Scarlet Claw (1944) Besides his villainous roles, Basil is famous for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in a series of movies, which are quite excellent.
