Don't Know...ARTHUR LUBIN?

Arthur Lubin

You really should know who ARTHUR LUBIN (1898-1995) is! Arthur Lubin was a director (often at Universal) active for over 40 years. He directed many television programs including "Mr. Ed".

Phantom of the Opera (1943) Poster

A fine place to start is by viewing: Phantom of the Opera (1943). This gorgeous Technicolor film of the Gaston Leroux tale starred Claude Rains as the Phantom and Susannah Foster as Christine. Not very scary, but it is still a fine film.

See that and pay attention to the following four films.

Black Friday (1940) Boris Karloff is a well-meaning scientist whose experiments go wrong. Bela Lugosi is a mobster!
Buck Privates (1941) This was Abbott & Costello's first starring film.
Hold That Ghost (1941) One of my favorite Abbott & Costello comedies.
Francis (1950) This was the first in a series of popular comedies featuring Francis The Talking Mule (voiced by Chill Wills). Donald O'Connor was the human star.
