Don't Know...FRITZ LANG?

Fritz Lang

You really should know who FRITZ LANG (1890-1976) is! He's a German director who fled the Nazi regime for Hollywood. His American films rarely lived up to the promise of his German film work.

M-Deutsch (1931) Poster

A fine place to start is by viewing: M (1931). Peter Lorre as the child murderer hunted by both the police and the underworld. Lorre's first credited screen role.

See that and pay attention to the following four films.

Metropolis (1927) Science fiction classic about class warfare.
Dr. Mabuse, Der Spieler (1922) (Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler, or Player) First of three films about the criminal mastermind, Mabuse.
Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse (1933) Tausend Augen des Dr. Mabuse, Die (1960) is the third film.
The Big Heat (1953) Film noir starring Glenn Ford, Lee Marvin & Gloria Grahame.
