EVE ARDEN?

Eve Arden

EVE ARDEN (1909-1990), born Eunice Quedens, is as quick with a quip as Groucho (though she was toned down in their only pairing). Eve Arden had the ability to bring even the most mighty down to earth with just the right turn of phrase.

Stage Door (1937)Haven't you seen Stage Door (1937)? Jean: "You're not going to catch the opening tonight, huh?" Eve: "No, I'm going tomorrow and catch the closing."

Watch this and then see these other four films.

Our Miss Brooks (1956) It's hard to imagine the sarcastic teacher being played by any one other than Eve Arden, she was just so perfect.
Mildred Pierce (1945) Eve: "I'm beginning to think crocodiles have the right idea. They eat their young."
The Doughgirls (1944) Eve Arden as a Russian sharpshooter. She has a hilarious difficulty with the American way of doing things.
Grease (1978) Eve: "And remember, if you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter."
