MARY PHILBIN?
MARY PHILBIN (1903-1993), born Mary L. Philbin, won a beauty contest sponsored by Universal Studios: the prize was a studio contract. Her first role was in Blazing Trails. She appeared in a number of prestige productions appearing several times with Norman Kerry. She retired from films shortly after the advent of sound despite having a very good voice.
Haven't you seen The Phantom Of The Opera (1925)? Mary costarred as Christine in the first (and still best) version of Leroux's novel. Costars are Lon Chaney and Norman Kerry. Her reaction to the Phantom's unmasking is still very effective.

Watch this and then see these other four films.
Stella Maris (1925)
Merry-Go-Round (1922) Original director Erich von Stroheim was fired by Irving Thalburg and was replaced by Rupert Julian (who directed Phantom in 3 years). Costar is Norman Kerry.
Fifth Avenue Models (1925) Other than costarring Norman Kerry I know nothing about this film, but I have an original still so I included it here.
Man Who Laughs (1928) Mary costars with Conrad Viedt in this adaptation of the Victor Hugo novel.
5th Avenue Models
Autograph reads: To Eric Jamborsky
Sincerely, Mary Philbin
