Don't Know...HOWARD HAWKS?
You really should know who HOWARD HAWKS (1896-1977) is! Producer, Director, Writer, Production Manager, Second Unit Director, Editor....
A fine place to start is by viewing: Sergeant York (1941). This film stars Gary Cooper. Of all his films, (and I mean, of those I've seen), this one has to be my favorite. It's a wonderful story. I like the fact the main character grows and through his growth, others grow alongside him. Howard Hawks both produced and directed this fine film.
Watch this and then see these other four films.
Red River (1948) Hawks produced and directed this western with a superb cast that includes John Wayne, Montgomery Clift, Walter Brennan and many others.
Bringing Up Baby (1938) Hawks produced and directed this screwball comedy starring Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Nissa who just so happens to be a leopard.
His Girl Friday (1940) Hawks produced and directed this screenplay version of the Ben Hecht play, The Front Page. It stars Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell. It is truly a delightful film.
I was a Male War Bride (1949) Hawks directed this hilarious comedy starring Cary Grant and Ann Sheridan. You really must see Cary Grant in drag. It's too funny.
Look for other Howard Hawks films.
