Don't Know...WALT DISNEY?

You really should know who WALT DISNEY (1901-1966), born Walter Elias Disney is! I'll say first that Walt Disney is a producer. He holds the record for sixty-four Academy Award nominations and of those, twenty-six are wins. Walt Disney's personal awards included honorary degrees from Harvard, Yale, the University of Southern California, and UCLA; the Presidential Medal of Freedom; France's Legion of Honor and Officer d'Academie decorations; Thailand's Order of the Crown; Brazil's Order of the Southern Cross; Mexico's Order of the Aztec Eagle; and the Showman of the World Award from the National Association of Theatre Owners. As a producer of family entertainment, he personally produced 635 titles of feature films and short subjects--both animated and live action. His character "Mickey Mouse" whom Disney brought to the screen and gave voice is one of the most recognized symbols in history. You should already know that he is the founder of the Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® Theme Parks. You should also be familiar with such animated greats as Fantasia, Bambi, The Sword and the Stone, Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and One Hundred and One Dalmatians, which Disney personally produced. He also produced television shows such as "Disneyland", "The Mickey Mouse Club" and "Zorro". In this showcase, I recommend five live action films. I hope you'll pay special attention to Walt Disney's artistic genius that goes way beyond the creation of an animated mouse. Beyond, his being also a director, a writer, a camera operator, a presenter, and even a hobbyist (model train builder), Disney created a legacy that lives on forever.

A fine place to start is by viewing:

Old Yeller (1957) This family adventure stars Dorothy McGuire, Tommy Kirk and Kevin Corcoron. this heart-warming tale is the very much the story of a dog as it is the family that keeps befriends him.

See that and pay attention to the following four films.
Pollyanna (1960) This family film stars Jane Wyman and Haley Mills. The story is about the positive attitude of one child making a difference to a small town.
Swiss Family Robinson (1960) This adventure film stars Dorothy McGuire, John Mills, James MacArthur, Janet Munro, Tommy Kirk and Kevin Corcoran. It's the story of a family stranded on a island and making the most of it.
Follow Me, Boys! (1966) This film stars Fred MacMurray, Vera Miles, and a young Kurt Russell. It's the story about one man making a difference in a small town as a scoutmaster.
The Ugly Dachshund (1966) This film stars Dean Jones and Suzanne Pleshette. Dean Jones' character owns a Great Dane that thinks he's a Dachshund.
