Saturday, January 01, 2005

Contributing Editor: FLOYD BETTS (1938-2007)

Dr. Floyd Betts Dr. Floyd Betts, a retired radiologist, is gone now, but not forgotten. He was a wonderful, kind and generous man who consistently made time for others. Floyd loved classic movies and we are honored to host the showcases he made.

CONTRIBUTIONS: 3 Performers: Henry Fonda, Gordon MacRae, Kathryn Grayson

Astaire and Rogers in Swing Time (1936)
LOCATION: Texas, U.S.A. (Born December 18 in Texas)

INTERESTS: Music, both listening and playing (played in a Big Band for 30 plus years); watching sports and movies; electronics (licensed radio amateur but rarely operate any more); Previous interests that I no longer pursue are photography, field archery, and sailing.

MOVIE MEMORABILIA: Small to moderate video library.

CasablancaFAVORITE MOVIES: Casablanca (1942), Lost Horizon (1937), Singin' in the Rain (1952), North By Northwest (1959), Scaramouche (1952), Prisoner of Zenda (1937 and 1952 versions), Random Harvest (1942), all Astaire and Rogers movies and most Eddy & MacDonald movies.

FAVORITE ACTORS/ACTRESSES: A short list would include Ronald Colman, Henry Fonda, Cary Grant, John Wayne, James Stewart, Gordon MacRae, Donald O'Connor, Danny Kaye, Ingrid Bergman, Loretta Young, Doris Day, Kathryn Grayson, Maureen O'Hara, Greer Garson, and on-and-on and-on.

Singin' in the Rain (1952)TESTIMONY: Those were the days of my youth .... the period I lived through. I can identify with most of what those old classics are trying to depict. However, I watch movies to be entertained, not to be taught some lesson!
